Arch Proctor
Arch Proctor, a son of Dink Proctor, was held in the Logan County jail at Russellville, Kentucky, in December 1896. Newspaper accounts report that a mob, said to have come from Adairsville, broke into the jail early on the morning of December 18, 1896, though one paper dates it to December 17, and took Arch and his father from their cells. The mob bound them and hanged them from a cedar tree outside town. One report says the jailer was forced to give up the keys, and Arch is reported to have begged the mob to let him see his mother before he was hanged, a request that was refused.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A mob broke into the Russellville jail, took Arch Proctor from his cell and hanged him from a cedar tree, according to newspaper accounts that say the jailer was forced to give up the keys.
