Apolinar Solis
Apolinar Solis was 51. He was legally blind, had diabetes and balance problems, and received dialysis three times a week, and he lived with his sister Marisol in Harlem. His family says he fell down a staircase at the Manhattan Criminal Courts Building while held in city custody, and that he died of his injuries on November 22, 2013, after surgery at a hospital in Lower Manhattan. The family says city agencies did not tell them he had been hospitalized and have not answered their questions about his last moments. The Department of Corrections and the Medical Examiner are still investigating, and the manner of death is listed as pending.
