Antwaun Tremain Bogany
Antwuan Bogany, 32, was held at the Polk County Jail in Livingston, Texas, when he became ill. His mother, Judy Bogany, and his sister, Tashara Garner, said he complained of headaches, blurred vision and dizziness for hours, and that jail staff chose to observe him rather than take him to a hospital. He was taken to a hospital in Kingwood and died there the following day, and his family said a doctor told them a blood vessel in his head burst from high blood pressure. The sheriff's office said an internal investigation is underway, and the Texas Rangers are investigating whether a crime occurred. His mother said she wants to know why he did not get medical care.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (neglect alleged). His mother says a hospital doctor told the family a blood vessel in his head burst from high blood pressure, and she says jail staff watched him for hours with headaches and dizziness instead of taking him to a hospital.
Reported by: Judy Bogany, his mother (family or their lawyers).
