Died in jail or a lockup
Antonio Martinez
Antonio Martinez was one of three men held in the jail at Las Lunas, New Mexico, when masked men took them from the jail and hanged them from a tree on or about May 4, 1893. A second 1893 newspaper item describes the same event at Los Tunas, a near-identical account with few details. Neither report says who carried out the killing or whether jail or county officers resisted, gave up the keys, or handed the men over.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
