Anthony Rencher
Anthony Rencher died while held at Vandalia Correctional Center in Fayette County, Illinois, in October 2011; one source gives the date as October 2 and another as October 3. According to a nurse's report cited by a news outlet, he went to the prison's health care unit at about 2 a.m. saying he did not feel well and could not walk. The report says he waited roughly an hour in the waiting room, was sent back to his cell around 3 a.m., and died about two and a half hours later. Illinois Department of Corrections spokesman Tom Shaer disputed that he received no treatment, saying he was seen by a medical professional.
