Anthony Garrett George, 38, of Newport, died on May 20, 2018, while held at the Jackson County detention center in Arkansas. He was found hanging from the bunk in his cell on a Sunday evening, according to reporting that the death was in custody. Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said the death appears to be a suicide. His body was sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
