Anna Brown, 29, was the mother of two children, and her mother, Dorothy Davis, said Anna called every day to check on them. A peer specialist at the St. Louis Empowerment Center said she was just starting to make progress. Anna had gone to a hospital in the St. Louis area with a sprained ankle, and she was taken into police custody there before she died in a jail cell in September 2011.
