Angelo Marcuso

Angelo Marcuso, an Italian man, was held in the St. Charles Parish jail at Hahnville, Louisiana, in August 1896. About fifty armed men broke into the jail around midnight on August 8-9, overpowered the guard and battered down the doors. They took Angelo Marcuso and two other Italian men from the jail to a stable a short distance away, and hanged them from its rafters. According to press reports, the crowd then fired on the bodies.
