Angelena McCord
Angelena McCord, 29, of Tyonek, was held at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center in Alaska when she had a seizure. She was taken to Alaska Regional Hospital on Sept. 22 and placed on life support, and she was taken off life support on Oct. 10 after her charges were dropped, and she later died. The ACLU of Alaska says her death should be counted as a death in custody, and an advocate with the group said, "29-year-olds don't die for no reason." The Department of Corrections does not count her death as a custody death because she had been released before she died.
