Andy Jackson

Andrew Jackson was one of five people held in the Elkhart jail in Texas. On the morning of June 21, 1885, a mob broke into the jail, took him and four others out, and hanged them from a tree. The Hickman Courier reported that jail officials were powerless to stop the mob. The Rock Island Argus reported that deputy sheriffs first resisted and then gave way when told that resistance was useless.
