Andrew Zavala, 24, was placed in a cell at the Fresno County jail on Thursday evening, September 8, 2016, and soon afterward told a correctional officer he was not feeling well. A nurse checked his vital signs, and he was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died at 9:17 p.m. Fresno Police spokesman Tony Botti said the cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results, so how he died has not been determined.
