Andrew, a young Black man, was being taken by train to a jail in the custody of an officer escorting him when a mob took him from that officer. The Daily Morning Journal and Courier reported that the mob carried him into the woods near Afton. According to the newspaper, Andrew was presumed to have been lynched there.
