Andre Wilson
According to a friend, Andre Wilson's mother died when he was a child and his father was rarely around, and he had been waiting for a government-assisted housing voucher, meeting weekly with a caseworker who told him it had been approved. Wilson, 34, died on September 14, 2020, while held in the Tarrant County Jail in Texas, at the Lon Evans Corrections Center. The custodial report listed cardiomegaly, an enlarged heart, as the cause of death, and the autopsy reported no neck trauma. A friend who was also held at the jail alleges that other people held there killed Wilson, that jailers let cell doors open, and that officers covered it up. The sheriff's office did not respond to questions about the case.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (disputed; neglect alleged). The custodial report lists cardiomegaly, an enlarged heart, as the cause, but a friend held in the same jail says other inmates killed Wilson while jailers let cell doors open and officers covered it up.
Reported by: Wilson's custodial report (the agency that held him); autopsy; a friend held in the same jail.
