Andre A. Young-Johnson
Andre A. Young-Johnson, 23, was held at Maury Correctional Institution in Greene County, North Carolina, when he died on February 21, 2020. According to the Department of Public Safety, he was struck with a homemade weapon during a fight with another person held in his housing unit, and he died of injuries from that fight. Staff responded and provided medical attention before emergency medical services pronounced him dead. The Department of Public Safety is cooperating with a Greene County Sheriff's Office investigation, and the death is also under internal review.
