Executed
Anderson Harris
Anderson Harris was moved from the jail in Jackson, Mississippi, to Raymond, where he was hanged in late May 1891, according to The Appeal. The paper's reporter, E. A. Gray, visited his cell on May 26 and found him reading the Bible and saying he had made peace with his fate. Harris told Gray he had found the true religion and expected to go to rest in the hereafter, and on the scaffold he sang the hymn 'Drinking at the Beautiful Pool.' The Appeal described the execution as quiet and estimated the crowd present at 25,000.
