Anahi Rubio
Anahi Rubio was 23, and her brother, Jose Rubio, said she had struggled with drug use and was "making big changes for herself." She was found unresponsive in a Maricopa County jail cell in September 2025, and the medical examiner's report lists fentanyl and methamphetamine intoxication as the cause of death. Her family does not know how drugs got into the jail and says detectives have given them little information. The sheriff's office acknowledged that drugs are present in the jail and said it is adding scanners, K9 units and searches. Her mother, Carolina Lopez, said the death could have been prevented.
