Died in jail or a lockup
Amos J. Greeny
Amos J. Greeny was taken from a jail by a mob and lynched in 1886, according to a brief item in the Democratic Northwest published in December 1890. The item does not say where the jail or the lynching took place, or how the mob got him, so it is unclear whether the sheriff or jailer resisted, gave up the keys or handed him over.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Democratic Northwest reported in 1890 that he was taken from jail and lynched by a mob about four years earlier.
