Amanda Lane, 38, died in February 2022 at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, Oklahoma, a state prison where she was held. The state medical examiner ruled her death a suicide. Cynthia Butler believes Lane may have faced harassment and other mistreatment before she died. Butler has since advocated for body cameras in state prisons.
