Alyssa Sund
Alyssa Sund, 41, was a mother and wife who had several medical conditions. She died on December 23, 2018, in her cell at the Benton County Jail in Corvallis, Oregon, about 91 hours after she arrived there. Her husband, Emery Sund, said he heard her calling for him while she was vomiting and trying to get help. His federal lawsuit says jail staff ignored her medical needs and never had her seen by a doctor. The sheriff's office said at first that it was not clear why she died, and the medical examiner attributed her death to acute methamphetamine toxicity, while the Oregon Department of Justice found no criminal conduct.
