Alma House
Alma House was held in the jail at Shubuta, Mississippi, when, according to an Associated Press dispatch from Mobile, Alabama, a mob took her from the jail on the night of December 20, 1918, and hanged her from a bridge over the Chickasawhay River. The report says the jailer was forced to unlock the cells, so the mob was let in by the jail's keeper rather than stopped. It was one of several people taken from custody that same night.
