Allan Tucker II

32 years old · died August 15, 2025 · Alexandria City Detention Center, Alexandria city, Virginia

Allan Tucker II, 32, was a caretaker for his father, who uses a wheelchair, and his brother Mack White said he had 'one of the biggest hearts anyone I have ever known.' On August 15, 2025, Alexandria police took him into custody near an apartment complex on North Beauregard Street, and he died in a patrol car in the sally port of the Alexandria jail. An independent police auditor, Ameratu Kamara, found that officers ignored his repeated requests to be taken to a hospital and that he waited 35 to 45 minutes during a shift change without a nurse's medical screening. The medical examiner ruled his death accidental, attributing it to cocaine and cocaethylene intoxication; the Commonwealth's Attorney declined criminal charges against the officers, and the Sheriff's Office said its internal review found no policy violations but has not released it. His mother, Sandra Jones, filed a federal lawsuit in October 2026 alleging that officers left him without the medical care he asked for.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose (disputed; neglect alleged). The medical examiner ruled the death accidental from cocaine and cocaethylene intoxication, while his mother's federal lawsuit says officers left him in a police cruiser for nearly 45 minutes despite his requests for a hospital, and an independent auditor found that officers violated policy.

Reported by: Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (medical examiner or coroner); his mother, Sandra Jones, in a federal lawsuit (family or their lawyers); Independent Police Auditor Ameratu Kamara (outside investigators); Alexandria Police Department (the agency that held him); Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.

Lawsuit: His mother, Sandra Jones, sued the City of Alexandria and two police officers in federal court, alleging they left him in a police cruiser without the medical care he asked for, and no settlement or award has been reported.
