Alizon Lopez
Alizon Lopez, 28, was a mother of four who worked in the laundry at the Mesa County jail, where she was held in May 2022. Her cellmate found her unresponsive in her cell after a shift, and she died there. The Mesa County Coroner's Office concluded that she died of fentanyl intoxication and classed the death as an accident. Investigators later traced fentanyl reaching people held in the jail to people who smuggled it in.
