Alfonso Askew
Alfonso Askew, 48, was the father of seven children, and his wife, Stacey Askew, repeatedly tried to get help for him. He was held at the Trumbull County Jail in Ohio, and in November 2020 he called his wife saying he was in severe pain. The family's federal lawsuit says jail medical staff did not take his complaints seriously. He collapsed in his cell on November 12, 2020, was found not breathing later that morning, and died of a ruptured peptic ulcer the next day in a hospital.
