Died in jail or a lockup
Albert Guest
Albert Guest was held in the jail at New Straitsville, Ohio, when a mob broke in, took him from the jail and killed him by lynching, according to a May 1885 newspaper report. A Milford Chronicle account says the mob acted after a quarrel in which town marshal Henry Auer was shot several times. The reports attribute the lynching to a mob, and they describe the jail holding him but do not say how jail officials responded to the mob.
