Alan Powell
Alan Powell, 57, died in June 2013 after another prisoner attacked him in the exercise area of Maine State Prison in Warren. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found that he died of blunt force trauma and ruled the death a homicide, and an autopsy was performed. Authorities said another prisoner beat him with an electric guitar, and that prisoner later pleaded no contest to the killing. The Department of Corrections said the two men had previously spent time together at the prison without incident, and it is not clear what prompted the assault.
