Abel Valencia Cruz
Abel Cruz, 75, of Norwalk, was held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Riverside County, California. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said he was taken to a local hospital for unspecified medical treatment and died there on May 1, 2022. A later Desert Sun report, based on an ACLU records request, named a man, Abel Valencia Cruz, who died in a Riverside County jail on the same date and gave no cause of death. The manner of death is listed as pending.
