Abel Ochoa
According to his attorney, Abel Ochoa showed deep remorse, had a positive effect on guards and other people held at the prison, and found redemption and faith during his years there. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice executed him by lethal injection of pentobarbital in the Huntsville death chamber on February 6, 2020, when he was 47. Before his death he apologized to his wife's family and thanked them for forgiving him. His lawyers challenged paperwork in his death warrant and the prison system's initial refusal to let him record a clemency video, but state and federal courts rejected those appeals.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state
