Died in prison
Abdul Sears
Abdul Sears, 24, died on March 21, 2026, while held at Nash Correctional Institution in North Carolina. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction said he was found unresponsive in his cell around 8 a.m. and that EMS pronounced him dead just before 8:30 a.m. The department said foul play is not suspected and asked the State Bureau of Investigation to look into the death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
