Aaron Long
Aaron Long was hanged at Rock Island on October 29, 1845, along with John Long and Granville Young, according to the Davenport Gazette as reprinted by the Burlington Hawk-Eye. The paper reported that the rope broke when the drop fell and Aaron Long fell to the ground. Many in the crowd scattered, thinking a rescue had been attempted. He was then led back onto the scaffold, where the plank he stood on was knocked out from under him.
