A Weisinger

died April 14, 1882 · Dallas County Jail, Dallas County, Alabama

A Weisinger, a Black man, was hanged at Selma, Alabama, together with William Ledlow, as reported by the Gloucester County Democrat in April 1882. That paper says both men declared they were innocent. A Selma jail account published April 18, 1882, describes a mob taking a man from the jail on a Friday and hanging him, but the name in that text is garbled, so it is unclear whether it refers to him. The two reports disagree on whether he was executed or killed by a mob.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched (disputed). A mob took A Weisinger from the Selma jail and hanged him, and the second account says the prisoners declared they were innocent, which conflicts with the execution flag applied to that record.

Reported by: newspaper account of the Selma jail hanging (reporters).
