Wm Hates
Wm. Hates was held in the jail at Shelbyville, Tennessee, when, in June 1892, masked men took him from the jail and hanged him from a tree. The Weekly Courier-Journal, in its July 4, 1892 edition, reported the killing as the work of a mob. The death is recorded as a homicide carried out by a mob.
