Wiley Newton
Wiley Newton was one of several people held in the jail at Newton, in Baker County, Georgia. According to the Newport Weekly Independent, a mob came to the jailer's house, overpowered him at the jail door, and took Newton and two other men out of the jail. The mob hanged Newton from a tree about a mile from town and shot him.
