Walter

Walter was held in the jail at Lewiston, California, in 1871. According to the Weekly Echo, a mob broke into the jail and hanged him.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A mob disguised as Indians broke into the Lewiston jail and hanged Walter, who was being held there; the sheriff had not carried out the court's scheduled execution.
