A 65-year-old man died on March 6, 2019, while held at the Martinez Detention Facility in Martinez, California. Contra Costa County sheriff's officials said a room check at 11:09 p.m. on Wednesday night found him unresponsive in his cell. He died at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. Officials have not yet stated a cause or manner of death, and the sheriff's office and district attorney's office are investigating. At the time of reporting, his name had not been released.
