A 26-year-old man, whose name was not given in the reports, died at the Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County, California, on April 27, 2023. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said he had been drinking a large amount of water and vomiting that morning, and that he was moved to a medical outpatient housing unit. A deputy found him unresponsive at 3:25 p.m., and paramedics could not save him; he was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m. The sheriff's office said no cause for concern was found during intake screening.
