An 18-year-old man, whose name is not legible in the surviving 1908 newspaper text, was held at the Pulaski jail in Pulaski, Tennessee, in May 1908. The Montgomery Advertiser reported that a mob of about 300 men broke into the jail and, despite the sheriff's protest, took him to a bridge and hanged him, then fired several shots into his body. The sheriff is reported to have protested the seizure, and the paper's account is the only source for these events.
