A man held at the Johnston City jail in Williamson County, Illinois, was taken from the jail by a mob and hanged on June 10, 1915, according to a Marion dispatch printed in the Birmingham Age-Herald. The Illinois National Guard was sent to patrol Johnston City the following day.
