The Age-Herald, in its December 16, 1897 issue, reports briefly that two men were taken from a jail in Jeffersonville, Georgia, and lynched that year. The account gives no names, no exact date, and no description of the men or of how the mob reached them. It does not say whether jail officers resisted the mob or handed the men over.
