A woman held at the Gretna lockup in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, was found unresponsive there on Friday, January 20, 2023, and taken to a hospital. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said she was pronounced dead at about 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 21. The Sheriff's Office said detectives did not suspect foul play, and the coroner's office will determine the cause of death. Her name has not been released in the reporting.
