A man in his fifties died on September 17, 2021, at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Estate Golden Grove, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections said he was found unresponsive and that a preliminary report found no obvious signs of foul play. The bureau said staff followed protocol and notified the Virgin Islands Police Department. The autopsy by the Department of Justice Medical Examiner's Office and the internal and external investigations were still pending, and the cause and manner of death had not been determined.
