According to Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, three people in their 20s, two men and one woman, died by suicide at the Rockingham County Detention Center in February 2021. The sheriff's office said the jail has increased how often staff check on people held there. The State Bureau of Investigation and a nearby medical examiner are investigating the deaths.
