According to the Florida Department of Corrections, a person held at Blackwater River Correctional Facility, a Santa Rosa County prison operated by The GEO Group, died of COVID-19 in April 2020. The department reported that five people held at the facility died of the disease that month, with reported ages between 65 and 84. The department attributed this death to COVID-19.
