Four people held at Blackwater River Correctional Facility, a privately run state prison in Santa Rosa County, Florida, died of COVID-19 in the week before the Florida Phoenix published its article in April 2020. It reported that the prison had the first coronavirus outbreak in the Florida state prison system.
