According to reports received in Mobile, Alabama, a Black person whose name was not recorded was taken from the jail at Shubuta, Mississippi, by a mob and hanged. The reports say four Black people were taken from the jail in this way and hanged from the girders of a bridge over the Chickasawhay River.
