On February 3, 2025, a person died at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said detention deputies found them in a single cell around 8:30 a.m. during checks. The coroner had not yet identified the person, and the cause and manner of death remain pending. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the investigation.
