The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office said a person held at the St. Joseph County Jail was found unconscious in a medical cell during a routine check on February 25, 2018. The sheriff's office said jail medical staff and medics attempted CPR, but the person could not be revived. The Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the death, as it does for all deaths in custody at the jail, and the cause and manner have not been determined.
