This man was one of sixteen Black men held in the jail at Trenton, in West Tennessee, when an armed, masked mob came to the jail. The mob took him out of the jail and killed him, along with the other men held there. He was a man held in the jail, and the account of his death comes from a newspaper report reprinting an earlier article from the Memphis Appeal.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Weekly Clarion, reprinting the Memphis Appeal, says an armed, masked mob took sixteen Black men from the Trenton jail and killed them.
