A Black man held in the jail at Lambert, Mississippi, was taken from the jail by a mob and hanged, according to a brief item in The Jones County News published July 3, 1913. The item gives no name for him and no exact date of death. It does not say whether the jailer resisted the mob, gave up the keys, or handed him over.
