A Black man held in the jail at Mojave was taken out by a mob, according to a short item in The Paducah Sun dated March 14, 1904. The paper reports that he was shot and clubbed to death, but gives no name for him. The item does not say how the mob got into the jail or whether the jailers resisted or handed him over.
