A man died in his locked cell at East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian in 2017, and his name has not been reported. Terry Beasley, a fellow man held at the prison, testified at a federal trial over conditions there that other people in the unit banged on their windows for more than an hour before officers came. Beasley said medical staff and a captain eventually recovered the man's body.
